Of course, the raw ingredients, more importantly, the beef quality itself, the quality of the soup all depends on the quality of the meat. Whereas in Taiwan, their local beef quality is actually pretty good. If you could not get your hands on Taiwanese beef (I think they export their beef abroad), worry not, I made this recipe with USDA beef, which I think is easily accessible to many people is many countries in the world.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;Fifth Title &#038; Last Content&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.4.4&#8243;]<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Best Red Braised Beef Noodle<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Red braised or &#8220;Hong Shao&#8221;, is when soy sauce is added during the process of making the soup and this red braised beef noodle soup was invented in Taiwan. I did some research to find out what makes Taiwanese Beef Soup Noodle different from the others? Anyhow, here is my take to the Taiwanese Red Braised Beef Noodle!\r\n\r\nLead Time :\u00a0 90 minutes\r\n\r\n<em>Serve 3\r\n<\/em>\r\n<h2>Ingredients<\/h2>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>500 g of Beef Chuck<\/li>\r\n \t<li>1 cup of Red Carrot<\/li>\r\n \t<li>1 cup of Radish<\/li>\r\n \t<li>2 tbsp of Bean Paste (Dou Ban Sauce or Taucu)<\/li>\r\n \t<li>3 tbsp of Tomato Sauce (options - Ketchup or Tomato Paste)<\/li>\r\n \t<li>1 stick of Cinnamon<\/li>\r\n \t<li>2 pcs of Star Anise<\/li>\r\n \t<li>2 pcs of Bay Leaf<\/li>\r\n \t<li>1\/2 tsp of Clove<\/li>\r\n \t<li>1\/2 tsp of Five Spice Powder<\/li>\r\n \t<li>1 chunk of Ginger<\/li>\r\n \t<li>2 liters of Water<\/li>\r\n \t<li>5 tbsp of Soy Sauce<\/li>\r\n \t<li>3 tbsp of Cooking oil<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Salt to taste<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Sugar to taste<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h2>Procedure<\/h2>\r\n<ol>\r\n \t<li>Cut beef into cubes.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Cut red carrot and radish in to bite size.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Clean and roughly cut ginger with skin on.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Preheat stock pot with cooking oil.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Add beef cubes and sear to brown.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Switch heat to medium and add cut ginger and fry to aromatic.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Add cinnamon stick, clove, star anise, bay leaf and five spice powder in and lightly toss it.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Add tomato sauce and bean paste and thoroughly fry it.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Add soy sauce and then switch heat to high.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Add water.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Add red carrot and radish. Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer.
